night time
Hi,
We have a 5 year old springer named Syd.
He came to live with us yesterday and we have had no problems, he's great.
I have just one concern.
Syd is very quiet during the day but during the night he howelled and barked, he lived outside before we had him and he was left alone for long periods.
I know its very early days but i just wondered if anybody had any ideas of how to settle him, we tried the radio and the light but it made no difference.
Any advice would be apricated
Thanks

Hi there

I think he is probably just a little insecure at the moment as everything is new. He will settle down once he has found his feet and you get him in a routine what ever you do dont go running to him everytime he howles and whimpers as this is an attention thing and he will expect you to do it each time if done once.

Oscar our springer who is nearly 1 now after he had his castration the other day he whimpered all night long just because he wanted some attention as he was feeling sorry for himself.

He will settle just give him time.

OMG, Zac has definately found his feet!!!!! He is pushing us all the time to see how far he can go, he's just like the kids....lol! He's turning in to a very mischevous dog with so much personality. We are taking him to the local gun dog club for some socialisation and basic training and he is loving it!!!

My sister lives on a farm and there is a great walk across the fields that's not too far for Zac, and there is a pond which all the dogs love!!! Zac is getting very brave, he went up to his tummy.........

My sister has 2 Welsh Springers, 4 King Charles Cavvies and a Jack Russel so Zac has lots of cousins to play with.

He certainly keeps us on our toes!!!!
