More than One???
Hi everyone,

we have recently got another springer puppy to go with ur 10 month old boy. Although it is stressful at times, i throughly enjoy both of them. However when we approched our training classes about teaching Poppy they were not very impressed and showed that they don't agree with more than one dog. Is this just a small opinion, or have we bitten off more than we can chew. Our lad Jaspa is fantastic and has gone through all the training possible and we intend to do the same with her.

Also is there any golden rules to follow for more than one dog, as no books seem to give any guidelines.

Many thanks,

Emma, Jaspa and Poppy. :)

Hi Emma

I don't know about the general rules on Springers but we have just got an 8 week old springer puppy to go along with our 5 year greyhound and, one week in, they are getting on well. I think dogs, as pack animals, need the company.

Hi Emma, Jaspa and Poppy, how wonderful, they are great company for each other. Up until February this year I had 5, 3 springers and 2 westies all as good as gold, they all sat on the settee with me and my husband(huge corner settee by the way) and it was amazing, regretably I only have 3 dogs now and I would have more but Dibble is approaching 17 now and he has had four puppys to deal with in all those years so I think to be fair he has had enough, but I do envy you and think its wonderful and it is amazing how much they pick up from one another. Dibble has always been, dare I say it, a really, really good boy and the others just seemed to have followed his lead. I would just go with my instinct. I think its great :D xx

Hi, we did the same and got another Springer puppy when Tig was 10 months old. It can make things a bit harder at first but things are getting easier now just two months on. Our training classes were very helpful and didn't make any negative comments. I don't think you will have any problems particularly as your first dog has had plenty of training. The continual play fighting does lessen in time.
