Pet PlanI just signed up for Pet Plan insurance.
Lots of thought and internet searching I decided Pet Plan was best for me and Ruby. I liked the cover they offer. I found with other insurances they will only cover an ailment just once during the dogs lifetime... so if your dog has an eye complaint they will pay for treatment but if they get the same eye complaint again a year later they will not give cover. Same applies to most problems a dog may have.
Pet Plan however will cover everything no matter how many times the dog has the same problem.
Just sharing.
Sounds like they offer good cover. What is it a month if you dont mind me asking? If oscar was to get a reaccuring illness i would just change insurance company for the next year. But still it sounds good. Thanks for sharing. Dan
Its expensive I guess at £18 a month. But cheap if you value your dogs health and life. They will also pay you what your dog is worth should it die, or be permanently lost.
The excess is the first £80 but you if your vet costs are only £70 and you go for more visits for the same complaint over the year, providing you save your receipts they will pay out and deduct the £80 excess. Alot of other insurance dont do this !
They do not cover your general things such as nail clipping, vaccinations, worming and such...
I think I made a good decision I I have been given another six weeks free, so no payments until the 15th March.
Directline for me ... but then I have 3 dogs needing insurance!
Hey, just to let you most if not all insurances should cover ongoing illnesses to a certain extent. they will have restrictions such as yearly amount or illness amount depending on policy or cover taken, but all should have what is called continuation claims, which means you pay the excess, but insurance covers each vist including check up for that illness.
So if the visit cost £50, plus a further 2 visits to the vets for the same problem then costs another £200, then you should only pay that first excess fee. If you the have to go back to the vets a week later for a different problem, then you will need to pay a new excess fee.
Also the vet should be keeping records for complaints annd payments and some will claim direct, so you only have to pay out for the excess, and then they get the rest of the bill from the insurance company(if unsure if complaint will result in in future visits, and by vet claim, then amounts paid over the excess should put your account in credit).
i have my 2 insured with M & S cos its the only one that i could find that insures the older dog. pays out fast too and direct to the vet. also with sam i dont have any excess with his insurance so i dont have to pay anything exept for jabs and worming. :D
Mine is with healthy pets, because thats the best deal I could get with old cats (like springergirl) at the time. I do have to pay excess, but they have always paid out, and I can go ahead with treatment without contacting them first, this has included 2 surgeries and various minor ailments.
